Why The Washboard Exists

When we looked at laundry options in Murray and Calloway County, we saw the same pattern everywhere: outdated machines, uncomfortable waiting areas, and minimal customer service.

We believed Murray residents (families, Murray State students, working professionals) deserved better.

That's why we created The Washboard. Not just another laundromat, but a place where doing laundry feels simple, safe, and maybe even a little pleasant.

Our washers range from standard size to extra-large capacity, handling everything from a single load of work clothes to king-size comforters.

The dryers are calibrated properly: hot enough to dry thoroughly but not so hot that they damage clothes.

The Laundry Card System

We eliminated the need for quarters. Our reloadable laundry card system is simpler, faster, and eliminates the frustration of hunting for change.

Load your card with cash (minimum $1) or credit/debit (minimum $10). Tap it on any machine to start. That's it.

A Comfortable Environment

We designed The Washboard to be a place you don't mind spending an hour.

Clean restrooms. Comfortable seating. Good lighting. WiFi. Climate control.

On-Site Attendants

From 8 AM to 5 PM daily, an attendant is on-site. Not just for Wash & Fold service, but to help with questions, troubleshoot machine issues, and keep the facility clean throughout the day.

New to laundromats? They'll walk you through the process. Machine acting up? They'll fix it or help you switch to another one. Not sure which washer size you need? They'll help you choose.

This level of service isn't standard at most laundromats, but we believe it should be.
